Through Peppercorn Discovery we guide you in the process of telling your story to focus on your strengths. Part of this journey is understanding how to articulate your accomplishments and results so you can show success in the work you have done in the past. Starting at the end helps you craft the right story when interviewing but also to see where you add the most value.
In Discovery we currently use the CAR method to help you articulate your stories.
C - Context, A - Action, R - Result. When you know your stories in this format, it helps you also be prepared for interviews.
Once you have your stories you can, create a matrix of your past work experience against various skills that companies evaluate so that you can tell a story on how you demonstrated those skills. Every time you get a new role, just add a new column and add experiences that match these skills. The details within each box go through the C-A-R method.
C - Context - what problem was the company facing
A - Action - what action was taken to solve the problem
R - Results - what happened because of the action taken.
TIP: Results do not always have to be numerical. It is preferable but sometimes it's about the value you brought to the table to bring about the result.
