What a great tip from Chi Chi Okezie! Networking is about building a relationship and it's important to "evaluate your relationship bank." The two-way street can be made easier in a few different ways. Some ideas on how to be "fair, equitable and true to your networking goals and values": 1. Before you meet: Research the person and see if you find any ideas on how you could help them. OR 2. When you meet: Make sure to have a goal of trying to get more insights about them to see if there are ways you could support them in their endeavors. OR 3. After you meet: Make sure to leave the door open and let them know that you are willing to help them if they find something you can help them with! As the person making the ask or networking make sure you are also very clear on: - Who you are - What you offer and - Where you are going So that the folks you are networking with can easily support your endeavors.
