How do you decide where you live and whether you want a remote job?
Linkedin published a study they did on the cities that had the highest percent of people most likely to apply for remote work. I personally haven't lived in any of the cities they listed! However, I am also biased to be very happy where I am on the West Coast in Silicon Valley.
I've been working "remotely" for years. I've had the opportunity to be in jobs where there is a combination of days in the office (when needed), working from home, and traveling too. Utilizing technology and even having simple phone calls allows me to get work done. Some of my roles have been in highly interactive roles such as business development, sales, and people operations. However, I have leaned on my ability to connect and build rapport with people even if I don't necessarily see them in real life all the time. I've made the choice of where I live based on my personal lifestyle rather than my professional life.
One of the attributes to help you decide What's Next is Location in Module 2 Ideal Position. So how do you decide where your job is? What drives the decision to decide where you live? Would you live in some of the cities listed below?
